Rare as Hen's TeethCurry Mallet Village Shop

We recently had a visit from Barrie Carter from Crewkerne. Barrie usually comes to us on two wheels, being a leading light in the 1st Chard Wheelers Cycling Club. On this occasion, however, Barrie brought his good lady in style, driving a very rare, he tells me MG. One of only 4 in the country, this highly-prized four seater is a prized part of Barrie's fleet. According to his business card he specialises in the restoration and sale of Curry Mallet Village Shopclassic cars and bad jokes!

Frozen Stiff

Curry Mallet Village ShopLike the rest of the country, Curry Mallet found itself in the grip of the winter freeze. We were pretty much cut off for three days, meaning that local folk who would normally be at work were milling around, pulling sledges and, quite irresponsibly, throwing snow around. Hats off to our determined and fearless delivery drivers who got through despite the conditions. So thanks to Dave from Wiseman, Pete from Upper Crust and Posties Dickie and Carl.

Shopping NightCurry Mallet Village Shop

A very pleasant evening enjoyed by all. Lots of goodies to browse while enjoying a glass of wine and a square of Julia's special edition cranberry and orange brownies. These were declared hit of the night! Many thanks to Denise Hawkins, Mary Vanderplank and Marilyn Hayward for letting us have lots of stock for the event.

 Cake   Fest Success
In a weekend of fun, indulgence and fine weather, the very first Curry Mallet Cake Festival was pronounced a success by all who converged on the normally quiet village near Taunton. Nearly 250 cake munchers worked their way through a Cake Tasting Tent piled with home made delights, sipped tea to smooth piano accompaniment provided by cocktail pianist Giles Adams and enjoyed quizzes, cake decorating demos and other side shows aCurry Mallet Village Shoplong the way. The other main attraction was the fantastic Map of Somerset cake, made by Curry Mallet cake maker Mary Adams.
Speaking after the event, Festival organizer Julia Langley said “It’s taken a huge amount of work to put the Festival on but I think it has been worth it”. Everyone seemed to have a great time and it was lovely to see lots of people milling around enjoying their cakes!” In the end I baked about 2,500 slices of cake. Now I need a drink and my poor oven needs a rest!”
